College admissions is overwhelming, and that is by design

There is more information online about college admissions than any student or parent could ever process. Every website says something different. One source tells you GPA is everything. Another says extracurriculars matter more. Someone else says test scores are optional now. Your neighbor's kid got into a top school with a 3.5 and you have no idea how.

The truth is that admissions is holistic, which means every part of a student's profile matters: transcript, essays, activities, recommendations, demonstrated interest, and the story that ties it all together. And the students who do best are not necessarily smarter. They just started planning earlier.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is stop reading articles and just talk to someone who understands the process. That is what we are here for.

We encourage students to start in 8th or 9th grade

Most families do not think about college until junior or senior year. By then, your transcript is mostly set, your extracurriculars are what they are, and there is very little room to build anything new. The students who have the strongest applications are the ones who started thinking about this in 8th or 9th grade, not because they were stressed about college at 14, but because someone helped them make smart choices early.

That is what our early planning consultations are for. We sit down with students and families and help them think through course selection, activity choices, and how to start building a profile that tells a real story over the next few years. No pressure, no panic. Just a plan.

8th and 9th Grade
The ideal time to start. Build a four-year plan, choose the right courses, and identify long-term project opportunities.
10th Grade
Still plenty of time. Strengthen your profile, deepen your activities, and start thinking about independent projects.
11th and 12th Grade
Application time. Essay strategy, school list, and making the most of what you have built so far.
